PBS12 Celebrates 45 Years of Independent Media Broadcasting in Colorado
It started 45 years ago in a garage in Broomfield with a bold idea: to broaden the local discourse on television. The legacy of our pioneering founders lives on in our mission – to create, curate, and share stories that connect Coloradans to their world. Today, PBS12 is as fearless and independent as ever, committed to telling the stories that matter most to Coloradans.
While technology (and our name) may change and evolve, our commitment to serving our Colorado community remains.
From our earliest days as KBDI Channel 12 – where an antenna fashioned from an orange juice can helped get us on the air—to today’s dynamic, multi-platform presence, we’ve never wavered in our mission. We champion critical thinking, elevate alternative viewpoints, and fiercely protect independent media.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We are grateful to our supporters – past and present – for valuing public, independent television and allowing us to broadcast for the last four decades. Here’s to the next 45 years of independent storytelling in Colorado!
