Colorado Public Television Brings Comedy and Satire to Air with Arab Labor and The IT Crowd

Denver (April 11, 2017) – On Tuesday, April 18 at 8 pm, Colorado Public Television (CPT12, PBS) will broadcast two independent comedies: THE IT CROWD (8 pm), a British satire about a rag-tag group of technical support workers at a large corporation, and ARAB LABOR (8:30 pm), called the “Arab Seinfeld” by critics. ARAB LABOR will also be available for streaming starting April 18 on video.CPT12.org.

ARAB LABOR is a raucous and irreverent critically acclaimed comedy series from Israel about Amjad, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen in search of his identity. His personal quest for status and success as a journalist at a Jerusalem newspaper is foiled by the humiliating searches he endures every day when he leaves his Palestinian neighborhood to commute to his job. In the midst of a walloping identity crisis, Amjad jockeys between two cultures as he tries to polish his image for his Jewish friends and colleagues while enjoying his own down-to-earth family life.

According to The Guardian newspaper, ARAB LABOR is a subtle, sophisticated and humane Israeli sitcom that has become an unexpected popular hit: “ARAB LABOR is an act of such enormous craft and generosity that it is difficult to appreciate in its true context. It contains no big speeches about occupation and it stares down fundamentalist polarities. Fundamentally the show is about family, about people trying to get by and get on with their lives. And most importantly, despite the insistent political aggravations, it’s just really, really funny.”

ARAB LABOR also airs on Wednesdays at 12:30 am, Fridays at 7 pm and Mondays at 9 pm.

With a cult following, THE IT CROWD is set in the offices of Reynholm Industries, a fictional British corporation in central London. It focuses on the shenanigans of the three-strong IT support team located in a dingy, untidy, and unkempt basement – a great contrast to the shining modern architecture and stunning London views enjoyed by the rest of the organization.
