CPT12 to Debut Take Back Your Power
Denver (September 11, 2014) – Colorado Public Television (CPT12, Channel 12 PBS) will present the United States broadcast debut of the definitive film documenting the surprising and unsettling story of smart utility meters, Take Back Your Power, on Saturday, September 13 at 7 p.m. The film’s producer and director Josh del Sol and Colorado-based activist Virginia Farver will be live in our studio from 7-9 p.m.
Del Sol’s award-winning documentary uncovers shocking evidence of in-home privacy invasions, increased utility bills, health & environmental harm, fires and unprecedented hacking vulnerability.
With compelling insight from whistleblowers, researchers, government agents, lawyers, doctors and environmentalists, Take Back Your Power uncovers the reasons why hundreds of local governments are now standing against the rollout of this technology. What you’ll discover will surprise, unsettle and ultimately empower you.
“Driven by stimulus funds, utilities appear to be in collusion with government to deploy so-named ‘smart’ meters without public disclosure of the facts and harm involved,” said Josh del Sol, producer and director of Take Back Your Power. “This film exists because people need to know what is going on, what’s at stake, and that we all absolutely have a choice to refuse to be harmed by so-named ‘smart’ meters – no matter what our utility says.”
“Presenting thought-provoking independent content to Colorado is at the heart of our mission,” said Shari Bernson, Director of Development for Colorado Public Television. “We believe our viewers and members can discern for themselves. We’re committed to presenting well-researched material to our statewide audience.”
