PBS12 Taps Former 9News Leader as New General Manager
Denver, CO (October 23, 2024 ) – PBS12 (formerly Colorado Public Television) is excited to announce its new President and General Manager, Bobby Springer.
This announcement follows a nationwide search and interview process by the PBS12 Board of Directors. Springer joins PBS12 from KHOU11 in Houston, Texas where he was the President and General Manager. He is the former Director of Advertising and Promotion at 9News and is excited to return to Denver. Bobby is a highly creative leader with an impressive background as a media executive. PBS12 is eager to bring his expertise back to the Denver market.
“Bobby’s vision for PBS12 matches the desire of the Board to be hyper-local and relevant in the community,” said Dessa Bokides, Chairperson of the Board. “His deep understanding of the Colorado media market, his passion for creating community connections, and his executive leadership make him the right choice to lead the Station,” Bokides added.
The Board thanks Frannie Matthews for stepping in as interim President/General Manager last April. Her insights and leadership have positioned the station well for the next chapter. “Working with the Board and staff of PBS12 has been a rewarding experience. This organization is a treasure to the Colorado community, and I’m thrilled to pass the baton to such a remarkable leader,” said Frannie Matthews.
Bobby Springer brings a wealth of experience in leadership, broadcasting, and community engagement and is thrilled to join the PBS12 team at such a pivotal moment. “I am excited to work with the talented team at PBS12 as we continue to provide unique, meaningful programming that serves the needs of our community,” said Springer. “This is a time of great opportunity for public media, and I’m honored to lead PBS12 into its next chapter.”
Throughout his career, Springer has demonstrated a commitment to innovative content creation and strong partnerships that foster community connections—values that align perfectly with PBS12’s mission. He spent nearly two decades at 9News and its parent company, TEGNA. Bobby was an integral part of the Marketing Leadership team, launching the syndication of TEGNA’s signature daytime lifestyle show Daily Blast Live across the US.
Under Springer’s leadership, PBS12 will continue to focus on delivering diverse and engaging programming, expanding its reach and impact within the community, and exploring new opportunities for growth in the ever-evolving media landscape.
